Full-time Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

The Bureau of Medicine and Surgery has a civilian Dentist (Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery) position immediately available at the Naval Dental Center, Camp Lejeune, NC.

What will you do?

Provide diagnoses and treatment of difficult and complex diseases, injuries, and deformities of the teeth, jaws, and other structures and connective tissues associated with the oral cavity and masticatory system, including difficult, complex, emergency, and prolonged treatment cases.

Conduct comprehensive examinations to evaluate dental health, diagnose diseases or abnormalities, and formulate and administer plans for appropriate treatments.

Perform comprehensive oral surgery procedures, expert consultations, and complex treatment planning.

Provide oral and dental health counseling and preventive dentistry services.

Conduct post-mortem dental examinations for purposes of identification.

Administer sedation and anesthetics to patients undergoing dental diagnoses and treatment, and prescribes antibiotics and other medications as credentialed.

Serve as a consultant on difficult cases or on advanced diagnostic and treatment procedures.

Requirements:

U.S. Citizenship

Licensure, Certification, or Registration required.

Designated and/or Random Drug Testing required.

Background and/or Security Investigation required.

Must pass pre-employment examination.



Your resume must satisfy the following:

1. Degree. D.D.S. or D.M.D. from a school approved by the Council on Dental Education, American Dental Association (ADA); or other dental school, provided the education and knowledge acquired was substantially equivalent to that of graduates from an ADA-approved school. You should be ready to provide a photocopy of your transcript upon request at a later date.; and


2. Licensure. You must have a current license to practice dentistry in a State, the District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico. Please make sure you resume indicates which state(s) awarded your license, and be prepared to provide evidence upon request at a later date.; and


3. Additional experience and/or training described below.

One year of professional dentistry experience in the field of OMFS, comparable to the lowest level of work in this band, and the quality of the experience must clearly demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities, and for competencies necessary for successful job performance. Certification as a diplomate by a national certifying board for specialized area of practice meets the requirements. Also, completion of an OMFS residency program is required.
